MEGA overview

MEGA is a Scientific program. It is available on various platforms, including Windows, and Mac. MEGA for Windows, and Mac can be found on respective stores.

MEGA is mainly used for working with .FASTA files. Other MEGA supported file formats besides .FASTA are .GCG, .MEG, .MTS, .MDSX.

There are two ways of opening .FASTA files with MEGA:

1. By double-clicking on .FASTA file (or any other supported file) with left click mouse button. If you have installed MEGA on your Windows or Mac, the file will open successfully.
2. You can open .FASTA file through the MEGA menu. The menu button can be found on MEGA dashboard.
